RYCO RCC351 Crankcase Filter Assembly
About RCC351
(see RCC351K for filter fitting kit)
Ryco Crankcase filter prevents crankcase gases from contaminating engine air intake components, reducing efficiency and leading to expensive maintenance. The high efficiency filter presents a low restriction to the engine PCV system and incorporates class

Separation Technology
Any oil that gets through a crankcase filter can end up accumulating in the intake system and EGR valve, so efficiency is arguably the most important factor when selecting one for your vehicle. Ryco's crankcase filters are designed to filter oil droplets less than 1 mm and the RCC350, fitted with the RCC1 50F filter, achieves an impressive 96% efficiency when tested to 1S017536-2:2017 in the Ryco lab's specialised crankcase filter efficiency test rig. The high efficiency coalescing media in the genuine Ryco replacement filters exceeded Mann+Hummel (Provent 150 200) crankcase filter assemblies and comfortably exceeded offerings from HPD and Process West (Terratuff). The Process West Terratuff filter has especially open filter media appearing to favour gas flow over efficiency. Imported Provent catch cans can be improved when retro fitted with a Ryco replacement filter.

Airflow Management
A quality crankcase filter should not restrict the factory PCV system. Good gas flow with minimal pressure drop across the assembly is crucial to avoid engine problems. Crankcase gas flow can be broadly correlated to engine power, engine wear and usage. The Ryco RCC350 has been specified to provide enough gas flow (for fitment to most new modern engines], and enough flow for future needs once the engine is worn. Research shows that a worn engine can produce up to 6 times2 the crankcase gas flow than when new. The RCC350 was designed with these whole of life requirements and achieves up to 240L/min at only 3kPa (0.43 PSI) pressure drop. The RCC350 is designed to manage operating pressure within a narrow margin ensuring internal pressure does not exceed 4kPa (0.58PSI) and features an additional check valve that prevents engine vacuum from drawing in captured contaminants.

Crankcase Internal Capacity
Volumes of crankcase contaminants vary greatly between vehicles and, like flow, are influenced by engine size, power, age and usage. In-vehicle testing has shown that crankcase blow-by contaminants can accumulate from a modest 8ml/1000km on a 2.2L PX Ranger performing primarily highway driving to over 30ml/1000km on a VDJ78 Landcruiser performing a lot of stop-start towing. As crankcase blow-by contaminants can contain a mix of oil, water, fuel and soot, it is not recommended to plumb these contaminants back into the sump but drain and dispose safely. As with efficiency and flow, bigger is better when it comes to internal storage capacity.
Installing RCC350K:.Additional Hose is Required for Installation
Once the installation location is decided additional engine PCV hose in the same diameter as fitted on the vehicle may be required to complete the installation. The hose selected must be heat, fuel and oil resistant. Note: Additional PCV hose is not included in the RCC350K kit.

Installation
Fitting Instruction
We strongly recommend the installation of the RCC350 be carried out by a qualified mechanic and the installer has access to the correct workshop manual for the specific vehicle. Before attempting to install RCC350 to the vehicle make sure the engine PCV hose has been identified. Additional hose may be required which must be the same diameter (heat, fuel and oil resistant hose required) to complete the installation.
